State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, has said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledged bound to building a prosperous Bangladesh through boosting production and generating employment.

“We have achieved millennium development goals and now on the way to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030,” he added.

He was addressing a public meeting at Nandangachhi Girls High School playground under Charghat Upazila in the district on Friday as the chief guest. He also said Bangladesh has attained remarkable success in various development indicators.

The country at present is progressing fast in every sector, especially improving foreign policy, ICT, food production, power generation and distribution, education, women empowerment, foreign remittance earning, GDP and per capita income.

With Freedom Fighter Meser Ali in the chair, Arani Pourasava Mayor Muktar Hossain, Sardaha Union Parishad Chairman Hasanuzzamman Madhu and local Awami League leaders Ekramul Haque, Shahinul Alam and Fazilatun Nahar also spoke.

Shahriar Alam said, “We’ve already stepped into the stair of a lower middle-income country from the lower-income nation. Bangladesh doesn’t want to stay at the lower ladder… it wants to climb to the peak and we will do whatever necessary for that.”

Becoming a lower middle income country is certainly something to cheer about. It makes us firmly believe that we will soon elevate to the status of middle income country, he added.

He said Bangladesh is moving ahead in all fronts and the government is determined to turn the country into a peaceful abode in South Asia. Mr Alam urged the people to extend their whole-hearted supports towards the government development activities.
